ABOUT US

Seafarers Intercontinental Pool is an offshore unit in the Nigerian Merchant Navy Officers And Water Transport Staff Association, Seafarers Intercontinental Pool traces its origins back to 2007, established as a beacon of security, care and compassion in vast expanse of the marine sector. We engage in maritime safety activities, maritime catering services and general security services both onshore and offshore solutions for maritime assets and ensuring the safety of seafarers worldwide.
Basically, Seafarers Intercontinental Pool is for the welfare of seafarers and their dependent.. Seafarers are sailors, seamen, mariners and persons who navigate water borne vessels or assist as crewmembers.  We are more than an offshore unit, we are a sanctuary for seafarers nationwide.
This organization draws inspiration from the altruistic vision of Reverend John Ashley, an Anglican priest in Bristol, England, who in 1856 founded a charity organization. This organization, nestled in Southampton, England, It served as the welfare umbrella for the united kingdom’s Merchant Navy and Fishing Fleet Sector, creating welfare services for seafarers at sea, who are vulnerable to mental issues, stresses, hopelessness, helplessness. We carry forward the legacy as we extend our arms to seafarers in need by establishing a welfare center here in Nigeria where seafarers can receive information about their families, friends and have a place for relaxation whenever they disembark on board a vessel, this removes the feeling of loneliness and isolation from them. This is not merely a mission, it is a calling, inspired by the timeless ethos of charity and welfare.
This organization apart from the above functions, it is also a place of counseling seafarers against drug abuse and alcohol abuse.
Furthermore, as a result of unemployment in the maritime sector of the economy, we embark on securing jobs both offshore and onshore for seafarers through the establishment of general security services thereby reducing insecurity and youth restiveness in the society. We lease out security both on land and on vessel.
We have 6 active commands in Nigeria, Akwa Ibom State, Delta State, Plateau State, Lagos State, Imo State and Rivers State, which is the head command.
It is of note to mention here that this organization is standing firmly on a sound legal footing.
